Mr. Jaya N. Bhandari

Senior Birdwatching Leader

Jaya N. Bhandari is a senior member of our coordination team. He is an expert birdwatching leader of Friends of Bird (FoB). Professionally he is a trek/tour leader and operator in Nepal. He has served in the Nepal tourism industry for over three decades. He is truly a nature lover and traveled to almost all places throughout Nepal. Having decades long extensive knowledge in trek/tour leading and operating in Nepal, he has been teaching and training to trekking and mountain guides at Nepal Academy of Tourism, Hotel and Mountaineering (NATHM) for more than ten years.

In addition, trekking and tour operating, Mr. Bhandari also guides birdwatching to the tourists. Birdwatching was his childhood passion. He started observing birds and their activities in his teen life. His interest in birdwatching was further developed after he became involved as a member of Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN). Mr. Bhandari also leads birdwatching tours and ornithological activities organized by BCN and other similar institutions. After a long association with BCN, he currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of BCN. He also serves on the editorial board and editor of the ‘Munal’(BCN Magazine) on behalf of the Executive board.

Over three decades of serving in the tourism industry in Nepal, he has a good reputation and affiliations in various tourism sectors. Mr. Bhandari is one of the founders and former president of Trekking Guide Association of Nepal (TREGAN) and also founder member of Loktantrik Paryatan Samaaj.

For more than two decades he has been with Friends of Birds’ journey. He is one of the regular bird watchers of FoB and sometimes leads birdwatching events for FoB. Jaya Bhandari also specializes in article and content writing. He regularly writes articles and contents for FoB and other Medias. He is also the senior editor at friendsofbird.com.
