Welcome to friendsofbird.com, a formal website of our team. Founded as an informal forum on 21st May 2005, Friends of Bird (FoB) is a forum of avid bird lovers who’re interested in birdwatching, bird conservation, bird photography, nature guide and students. The forum regularly promotes birdwatching events, environmental awareness programs and conversation activities for the local citizens in the Kathmandu valley. Its main objective is to raise public awareness about the protection of birds and their habitats. We’d like to welcome you from any sector of professions.

Since its inception in 2005, FoB has organized regular birdwatching activities in the Kathmandu Valley, bringing together bird lovers from diverse backgrounds. With birdwatching events now held twice a month, FoB continues to inspire people to discover and appreciate Nepal’s rich birdlife.

The forum was created to complement the conservation efforts of institutions like Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) by fostering a larger and more engaged birdwatching community, recognizing that greater public appreciation of birds is fundamental to their long-term conservation.

FoB realizes a big responsibility to raise awareness of birdlife importance, bird diversity and conservation to the younger generation, so college and school students are highly encouraged to join birdwatching events and conservation awareness programs in local society.
