Mr. Thapa is one of the most active founding members of Friends of Bird (FoB). He has a deep understanding of Nepal’s rich biodiversity and wildlife, with a particular passion for bird conservation and bird diversity. Professionally, he is involved in Nepal’s tourism industry and has long been engaged in promoting eco-tourism. For more than two decades, he has been leading birdwatching events in Kathmandu and across Nepal, inspiring participants of all ages, from students and young enthusiasts to senior birdwatchers. His events are highly regarded, and participants appreciate his knowledge, leadership, and approachable nature.

With well over two decades of professional experience, Mr. Thapa has guided numerous birdwatching tours for both domestic and international visitors, which has given him extensive knowledge of bird behavior, conservation practices, and the ethical principles of birdwatching and wildlife photography. His expertise, dedication, and calm demeanor have earned him a reputation as a trusted birding leader and mentor. He has the ability to connect with and inspire people across generations, making him an effective and respected leader within the conservation community.

Mr. Thapa currently serves as the President of Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN), a government-registered NGO dedicated to the conservation of birds, their habitats, and important bird sites throughout Nepal. He continues to provide leadership to both BCN and FoB with equal commitment and priority.
